The Elegant Japanese Flowering Cherry Bonsai Adds a Great Look to Any Garden
There are some bonsai that people purchase to add interesting flair to their outdoor bonsai tree collection. But then there are some that people purchase because they are classic, traditional bonsai. The Japanese Flowering Cherry is one of the latter. This great looking bonsai is very elegant, and no bonsai garden is truly complete without one. It features amazing white and pink flowers during the spring, and then it breaks out into small black fruits. This deciduous bonsai is also called the East Asian Cherry, the Oriental Cherry, and the Hill Cherry, among other things, but no matter what name, it’s one of the best bonsai around.
Remember that the Japanese Flowering Cherry, just like all bonsai, needs protection from the weather. While it is hardy enough to grow in cold temperatures, it is vulnerable to the elements. Snow and a lot of rain will need to be dealt with quickly, of course—don’t let water stand in your bonsai pot. Also watch for excessive heat and sunlight. Bonsai do not do well in direct sunlight, so you may need to put up a shade or arrange your bonsai so that they are near a shade tree or wall part of the day.
