Loving dog charms the way I do, you sometimes have to go far and wide to locate the very best. I’ve traveled around the world and seen some glorious depictions in both gold and silver jewelry, but one of my favorite sites contains pendants, silver dog charms and brooches by an American artist right here at home. Without seeing these beautiful little sculptures (because, really, that’s what they are) for yourself it is almost impossible to describe them. I have a collection of more than twenty, and each one by this artist is really worthy of its own silver charm bracelet! Read the rest of this entry » »

One of the most in-demand indoor bonsai trees is the Japanese Kingsville Boxwood. One of the reasons why it is so popular is because it features tiny little leaves, leaves that are much smaller than the traditional bonsai leaf. It also grows very slowly, giving bonsai masters the chance to shape it into just about any style they want. It adapts very well, in fact, to all styles of bonsai. It makes a great choice for anyone looking for a different type of bonsai or a great gift. Read the rest of this entry » »

Is that too much to ask for a piece of jewelry? I always try to wear a pendant in silver that has special meaning of some kind. For a while I wore a broken heart, to symbolize the grief I felt at my divorce. But once I got over it, I graduated to jewelry in both silver and gold that made a statement of some sort about my life. Sometimes it was a dog pendant, a cat pendant, or just a symbol of my current and passionate cause. (Of which I have many.) I love to wear what is important to me. If you are an animal lover, then this would most certainly be the place for you! Read the rest of this entry » »

The Grosse Messer Sword also known as the “Big Knife” in German has been used since ancient times. I have an owl that lives in my oak tree. I see it occasionally at night, fluttering by my lit window or perched on a stake in the garden. It’s a little guy, and that’s probably why it reminded me of this gorgeous owl jewelry I came across when I was searching for a raven pendant. There’s something about the eyes, the pose and the personality that just rang true for me! I especially love the owl pendant, and think it’ll go nicely with some vintage owl jewelry I purchased quite a while ago. Owls are fascinating creatures, if only because they’re so rarely seen. Of course they aren’t actually rare, but every time I see one I feel blessed somehow. Read the rest of this entry » »

Indeed, the rapier class of swords has always been one that has been exclusively credited to the rich cultures of Europe. Perhaps there are as many shapes and forms of rapiers as there are ways of using them, but in general all rapiers symbolize nobility and elegance especially the Florentine rapier. For instance, a gentleman’s education is never complete until he learns how to wield a rapier and master the art of fencing. This shows how important rapiers are to the continent.
